This is a close-up of the alien Campuloclinium macrocephalum or Pom Pom weed, a member of the daisy family and one of the "beautiful but dangerous" alien invaders threatening South Africa.  It establishes itself, intially, in disturbed sites such as road verges, and then invades grasslands, savanna and wetlands.
